Tortoise Toddler

    A hatchling desert tortoise, one of about 100 at the Desert Tortoise Conservation Center in Las Vegas, is shown Thursday. The San Diego Zoo, with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management and the Nevada Department of Wildlife, operates the facility to help the recovery of the threatened species.
