Tourist who fell from Strip escalator dies

A French tourist who was critically injured Friday after falling from a Strip escalator died Monday, according to the county coroner's office.

Francois Desaleonterras, 40, of Versailles died about 10 a.m. Monday at University Medical Center.

He suffered severe head injuries after trying to surf down an escalator about 4:30 a.m. Friday near Caesars Palace, Las Vegas police said.

Desaleonterras was drunk when he fell from the railing, which was about 25 to 35 feet above the ground, police said.

    Next thing you know there will be in campaign in place to remind people not to escalator surf. Like reminding people not to leave their their kids in hot cars. Next up classes in waking up and getting dressed.

    As soon as I heard of this incident, I figured alcohol was involved. Now, let sue those big bad escalator companies!

    Try using some compassion people. Think about his family so far away while his body lies in one of your morgues. Didn't you ever do anything stupid when you were on vacation and drinking? It would appear so by some of the comments posted here.
