The Nevada Highway Patrol said a 65-year-old Las Vegas woman was jailed on a felony driving under the influence charge after her car struck and badly injured a man refueling his vehicle beside U.S. Highway 95 near Cheyenne Avenue a little before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott said Shannon Newland, 52, was in critical but stable condition Wednesday at University Medical Center after the crash.

Elliott said Newland was putting gasoline into his Dodge van when he and the vehicle were hit by a four-door Cadillac sedan driven by Diana Chambers.

Two people inside the van escaped injury.

Chambers was at the Clark County jail pending a court appearance today.

She also faces a misdemeanor failure to pay full attention to driving charge.

Why are they bothering charging this woman with a misdemeanor failure to pay full attention? That charge will be dropped, just wait.
@Big Julie, you're killing me. LMAO

No doubt some ambulance chaser will try to blame Dodge for building a vehicle that runs out of gas

Not to condone this lady, but the 95 & Cheyenne is a horrible place right now. The shoulder of the road is non existant due to construction. It would be very easy to veer off the road their and hit this poor s.o.b. Just last week a guy drifted off the road here and hit a construction truck and died - exact same spot.

Not that this makes it right, but Shannon Newland was in jail last month:

"Hit by a four-door Cadillac"… Yet another Cadillac being used as a weapon. Maybe a mandate for a CCW along with gas guzzler tax when you purchase one.
