Wynn awarded $7.5 million in case against soft-porn king

Casino mogul Steve Wynn won a $7.5 million judgment against soft-porn king Joe Francis in a 4-year-old defamation lawsuit, a Clark County judge ruled Wednesday.
Court records show Judge Mark Denton awarded millions to Wynn after a "prove-up hearing" at which Wynn testified Wednesday.
A "prove-up hearing" is held before a judge in uncontested lawsuits.
Court records indicate Francis had asked for a continuance in the case to obtain a new attorney, but Wynn's attorneys pushed the case through and won a judgment against Francis in November.
Francis' attorney, David Houston, did not return a call for comment.
The two moguls have been squabbling in court for years since Francis failed to pay a $2 million marker Wynn said he owed to his casino.
A criminal case brought against Francis over the marker was dismissed, and a civil judgment against him is pending appeal.
The defamation lawsuit arose out of the marker dispute when Francis, who amassed a fortune producing videos of drunken college girls taking off their clothes, said publicly that he planned on "exposing how exactly Mr. Wynn deceives his high end customers," according to Wynn's civil complaint.

A city built on gambling losses. I will never understand how people, particularly wealthy people will throw away large sums of money in casinos. Theses clip joints have all the advantage. Ever read the notices posted in the casinos about gambling and if you have a dispute. In short, it states "we win, you loose". Every time I walk into a casinos, I see what gambling losses has purchased. As for Wynn and Joe Francis two people that I wish would go away.
Lawboychris did not mean what he said. I am making an unauthorized clarification. With Wynn anything is possible and denigrating or maligning his chips could be at minimum--the horror--false light. He got his chips cited in Wikipedia--really. So, Lawboychris (lbc), they are made of clay and are works of art and include in higher denominations RFID tags for easy tracking. Thread lightly lbc--it was a great comment.
I still want to know how Wynn supposedly deceives his high-end customers.
If Francis defamed Wynn by saying that he deceives his customers, and then he failed to defend the lawsuit, likely because he had no defense, I say Wynn deserves the award no matter how rich he happens to be. If someone opens their big trap and defames another, he risks taking it in the shorts. I'm glad that Wynn stood up to him.

Reading the comments, I can tell you that all the millions the Wynn's and other "moguls" donate to the Las Vegas education system is not working....

What's a paltry 2 Mil between Moguls. Some of these super wealthy SNEEZE more than that off the coffee table and into the carpet.
they're both Ps.O. S.... wynn could care less about the regular working man & i remember when he was one of the main characters that got Tarkanian fired becuase he was jealous, the other guy is just the other guy....
