EDITORIAL: Shielding illegals from the law

Defenders of illegal immigration are formulating a new approach in their effort to abet lawbreakers.

The Los Angeles Times reports that loose-knit groups of "immigration organizations" are preparing to try to disrupt future Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids that target illegals.

  • The plan is to try to tip off illegal immigrants that an enforcement action may be on the way.

"Is ICE going to tell us when they're coming? What they're doing? No," Socorro Leos, a community organizer for the Mississippi Immigrant Rights Alliance, told the Times.

The groups are organizing students, union members and other workers to keep an eye open for anything that might indicate an imminent raid, such as "Customs Enforcement agents checking into hotels or renting local facilities, the sudden appearance of out-of-town cars, or a sudden surge of action at the local courthouse."

These "are huge paramilitary operations," Joshua Hoyt, executive director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, told the Times. "They use helicopters, Jeeps, mobile homes for processing people. They have to have jail space lined up. It's very hard to do that in secrecy."

What a fine lesson to teach the children about American's right to control her borders.

Supporters of the effort say they simply hope to soften the blow when such raids occur, making sure young kids are taken care of or that those detained have access to legal help. That's certainly noble, but it's hard to believe the real motive isn't to help illegals flee in order to avoid the consequences of their actions.

"We believe their efforts would better serve the public if they encouraged individuals to comply with the law rather than impede our efforts to enforce it," Kelly Nantel, an ICE spokeswoman told the Times.

    Amen.

U.S. Title 8 details the penalties for businesses hiring illegals. U.S. Title 18 details the penalties for the use of false and/or stolen identification. We need MORE law enforcement personnel like Sheriff Joe Arpaio. He does not coddle criminals and he aggressively goes after illegal aliens. His department has been given ICE training so they can LEGALLY enforce U.S. immigration law.

This country has its head buried in the sand. They want "feel good." Many of them will never watch this stuff at the border because they would rather believe all illegal aliens are hardworking and want a better life. Let's just say the reality is it is some. Just some. Truth is this is depressing. I spend a little bit on the internet checking news on immigration every week and it is depressing, but one of our more important election issues. Reality is
we have way more criminal aliens than people would believe. They can spot the immigration vans a mile away. We would never even notice. They are still selling I.D. at the swap meets. It is a package of three, Social Security, drivers license and green card although I believe the quality is not good. This is neverending thanks to our heads being so far down in the sand we cannot see anything. I do not want to sound "Political" here but this is the reason the "Vote for Change" rhetoric sounds so good to us, we want to "Feel Good." Never mind the people paid to protect us are getting their heads bashed in. We feel good and want change. Sad indeed.

In the story below, just imagine how many illegal immigrants could be considered criminals in their home countries (whether for burglary, rape, or homicide) and yet are allowed to be live in this country without fear of persecution or even a simple ID verification.

Title: Ike evacuation: 'Hurricane amnesty' to help Gulf's illegal immigrants
    Author: Patrik Jonsson
    Publisher: ABC News
    Link: http://abcnews.go.com/print?id=5783868

'As up to a million Texans flee the wind and rain of hurricane Ike, the federal government has imposed a "hurricane amnesty" for the state's estimated 1.6 million unauthorized immigrants.

That means no ID checks at shelters, no border patrol checkpoints, no Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents scouring the highways, says Dan Martinez, spokesman for the Austin-based Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He calls the massive evacuation a "humanitarian mission" to save lives ahead of what may become an 18-foot storm surge pushing against the vulnerable continental shelf of Texas. '

I was shopping the other day and a spanish woman behind me was getting out her credit card to pay and for her identification she was using her matricula consular card (Mexican ID issued by their govt.) which mostly is used by illegals. Many banks are accepting this card for ID to gain accounts and stores are allowing it for ID. I could go on and on but this is frustrating and really for another forum but part of why so many are here and are not scared to move about. Then they listen to the radio when ICE has been spotted in their neighborhood and they stay home for a few days. Business as usual in the Latin community.

Liberals think mexicans do the work no one else will, when they are legal voters demanding to unionize and union wages who will do you slave work, we are running out of race’s to exploit.
