SHERMAN FREDERICK: Hey Harry: Where is Nevada's gift?

I'm very disappointed.

It's Christmas morning and I can't find one single gift to Nevada from Sen. Harry Reid under the health-care "reform" tree.

Louisiana got a nice package. Florida and Connecticut, too. And Nebraska scored a really big present.

Just three days ago Uncle Harry said that if a senator didn't get his state "something" in the health-care "reform" package, then that senator wasn't doing his or her job.

And yesterday Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., upped the ante. He said that every state did "get something" in the measure.

OK. I'm excited. What's Nevada's gift? Uncle Harry, as everyone knows, is the Big Kahuna of the Senate. He "brings home the bacon," his TV commercials claim. So if Nebraska got dispensation from Medicaid increases forever, one can only imagine the magnitude of Nevada's present.

Flat screen TVs for every man, woman and child? No, no -- that's way too small.

A new military base ... for every county?

A lump of coal and a power plant to fire it?

Maybe double our water allotment from the Colorado River?

Oh, I know: Lifetime exemptions for Nevada residents and all of their descendents from federal income tax? That would be nice.

Whatever it is, I can't wait for the UPS truck tomorrow. The suspense is unbearable.

What is a President?
To me a President is one that seeks to help out the country and not cause harm. Obama has caused harm to your children, their children and still more harm to your Great Grand Children.
To harm those that worked hard just to see that their family had a future was and still is wrong. And why shouldn't those Americans that has some type of Life and Health Insurance fight Obama to keep it, without putting his or her family in debt?
All I can say now is this. Bye Bye Harry Reid. I hope you requested your staff to see that your bags were packed early. It would also be great if Harry went to some other state, rather then return to Nevada.

Tom DeGregorio wrote on January 10, 2010 10:09 AM: Reid is as dishonest and corrupt as they come. His unconscionable methods to secure votes by back-door deals & bribes is crimminal....and he defends his actions by saying that "this is the way Washington has always worked". Well, guess what... just because something has always been done the wrong way doesn't mean that... it should continue to be done wrong. We voted for CHANGE and the whole legislative process of bribes, earmarks and special interests has got to be stopped and stopped NOW!! Good riddance to a moron that is destroying America and for giving the Democratic Party a loss in the next elections. I'm no fan of either party since both are too extreme in thier policies... we need to have a middle ground and that's what I thought the last election was about. I guess I was mistaken, or more likely, duped again.

Seems like a pretty good gift to me.

Yeah, I agree to an extent, for other reasons though, but the wall is definately not working. We can save some money on that one too by stopping that project. Why is Harry so dingy? Could you please step off the band wagon and explain with factual examples? Hey, are you even from my state?

It just envokes fear and trauma, it's kinda like Bush/Cheney's war on Terror. Obama told them terror is a tactic. Speaking of tactics, that is what Republicans specialize in, scare tactics. Pete, stop being so scared of your own Republican, oops, I mean conservative, tactics. Government has been running thing forever. They aleady mandate what is preventive care, what is medically necessary, medicare A and B oh and all the supplimental plans in between. They make our laws both local, state and federal. Government tells our kids what they are going to learn. They supervise our news shows. I hate to tell you this, but your too late. This country is "Governmentized" and has been for a while now. I would also like to know why you think our country has the best health care system in the world. Please give me factual examples, not scare tactics. WE have people dying on the floors of hospitals because they don't have insurance. The truth is that insurance CAN NOT lower thier prices. Why, because they are a FOR PROFIT corporation. Each year that profit has to be higher than the last. Harry Reid has been taking care of my state for over 30 years, can you say that about any of the political leaders in your state? I think not. NEXT...

Jessie wrote on December 30, 2009 03:10 PM: Oilengineer:now you are talking about group/business insurance. Say you have a group of 10 employees. 9 employees are healthy, don't smoke, have no prescriptions. The 10th, is 400 lbs, has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, bad back, he's a walking heart attack. Well, your whole group is going to pay for him, his wife and his kiddos. Why, because that is how group insurance works. Everyone assumes the risk of the group and the premium is shared by the number of lives. So yeah, your gonna pay for your co-workers bad health. Check it out for your self. You see, this is the stuff that the insurance lobbyist don't want you to know. Why? because the rich republican politicians own these companies. Fact......... just like oil my friend. (see cheney, bush and friends)

Jessie wrote on December 30, 2009 03:02 PM: Fire: That's great, you fell for the "low cost insurance" scam too. Go ahead pal and apply for that "insurance" and have a heart attack and see what happens. That is not insurance, it's discount membership plans that are never networked with providers. Call your departmment of insurance. Typical Republican advice. And Yes I do work, I'm a health insurance agent.
$2T over the next 10 years? Ok, we can fix that, let's stop paying for the war and foreing aid. We can save a ton and re-invest in AMERICA. Only one thing I agree with you on is the abortion coverage. Did you know that currently, not ONE major health carrier on the individual market covers birth control? Hmmmmmmmm

Fire wrote on December 30, 2009 12:18 PM: Jessie - here is your repub reply.
at the cost of $2T over the next 10 years is way to much, anyone can get ins now and its really cheap - dont take my word for it - google "low cost health insurance" and theres ones that will take ANYONE.
do you work?
I hope so cuz u are going to be pay 3X for the same covarage you have now!
first - you are going to pay your normal amount where you work (after this passes and they are taxed for it it will go up) second your medicare taxes will go up by about 5% last - who is going to pay the taxes that this makes?
right now if there is anyone not covered its the illeagls and abortion isnt covered ..... I dont know about anyone else but I dont want my money to go for that!!!
