Gaming icon Steve Wynn made his fortune believing in America and Las Vegas. His confidence in this city and its economy transformed the Strip, created tens of thousands of jobs and provided an elevated standard of living for untold numbers of Southern Nevadans.
But that confidence is clearly gone now, a direct result of the Obama administration's redistributionist philosophy and the ever-growing threat it presents to the private sector.
Mr. Wynn, in Macau for the opening of his hotel expansion, told CNBC Wednesday that he might move his company's headquarters from Las Vegas to China.
"The governmental policies in the United States of America are a damper, a wet blanket," Mr. Wynn said in a different interview on Bloomberg Television. "They retard investment, they retard job formation, they retard the creation of a better life for the citizens in spite of the rhetoric of the president.
"I don't think the Las Vegas market at the moment beckons a large investment," Mr. Wynn said. "The economic outlook in the United States, the policies of this administration, which do not favor job formation, do not encourage investment at all."
Mr. Wynn is no partisan hack, and we hope he sticks around. But even the most economically unsophisticated taxpayer should be concerned when one of this country's most successful entrepreneurs -- and the chief executive of a publicly traded corporation -- declares that this country is no longer a good place to do business.

"No confidence"
Gee, and George W. Bush was so confidence inspiring.
Fact is, the wealthiest among us have sponsored legislation to ensure they receive an ever larger slice of our wealth and income economic pie, as the middle-class shrinks and the working poor grow in numbers. That's con redistribution. That helped to make Wynn a BILLIONAIRE.
Why is it the filthy-rich among us whine the loudest?
It's got to be cheaper to get divorced in China. Chinese girls are hot!!!
It's not the economy, and it's not Obama - it's the Nevada State Legislature.
In the 2009 legislature, the idiots in Carson City in their greed ran off the most affluent gambler base that supported our town.
He just wants attention and media coverage for his new hotel in communist China.
Don't encourage him, you'll only make him worse.
@GH.Gee,I guess we should just set up a communist government controlled tax haven here that all the wealthy can run to when they decide conditions don't suit them, and we'll all live happily after.
Ben, that's true but what does that have to do with anything I wrote?
Those same people will still own 90% of the wealth whether they are paying high taxes in New York or low taxes in Florida. The only difference is Florida has figured out that 10% of something is better than 20% of nothing.
