Aliante Library features myriad cultural activities for residents

The Aliante Library, which opened in May 2006, offers children's arts and crafts, story times, a Spanish collection, cultural and civic programs, public-use computers (with Internet access), current movie videos and specialized books and materials on diverse topics.

The library is adjacent to the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park in Aliante, a master-planned community in North Las Vegas. The 15,900-square-foot, one-story library building houses reference, circulation, young adult and children's sections and an outside patio for story times. Other features include multi-purpose and meeting rooms, kitchen and circulation and reference desks.

  • North Valley Enterprises LLC, the developer of Aliante, donated a 3-acre parcel for the Aliante Library and contributed an additional $20,000 for educational materials and programs.

    During the fall months, the library will offer several story time sessions for youngsters. Drop-in story times are scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Preschool and lap-sit story times are also offered and registration is required.     The Aliante Book Club meets the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. The fall group will discuss "The Bonesetter's Daughter" by Amy Tan Oct. 22.

    The Aliante Library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library is closed Sunday. For more information, call 839-2980 or visit ci.north-las-vegas.nv.us/Departments/Library/Library.shtm.

    Aliante encompasses more than 1,900 acres. Home builders include Astoria, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB, Lennar, Pardee and Pulte. Homes are priced from the mid-200,000s to the low $500,000s.

    To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and exit east. Make a right onto Sky Pointe Drive, a right onto Frontage Road, and then a left onto the Beltway. Head east to the Aliante Parkway exit, then go south to the community.
