Audrey and Joseph Kemmler bought a Canyon Estates residence built by Distinctive Homes in the southwestern valley. It was the fourth home purchase for the couple, who have lived in Las Vegas 24 years. She owns Triple A Business Services and he is a Metro police officer.
"I wanted a one-story home and, ideally, a place where I could bring my work home -- a place that had an office. And the casita fills the bill. It's perfect," she said. "I love the fact that when you walk into the house, there isn't anything to break up the rooms. I don't like choppy houses."
Moving in during the summer, Audrey Kemmler said, she became very aware of the energy-saving features Distinctive Homes puts in each model.
"I came here to look at this house when it was being built. That day it was at least 110 degrees and there was no air conditioning installed yet, but it was only about 80 degrees in the house," she said.
