Couple chooses lifestyle within Meritage Homes' Watermarke

Midwesterners Michael and Marge Lukon chose a condominium at Meritage Homes' Watermarke development to be part of a warmer climate.

High school sweethearts, married 43 years, with two daughters and a 5-year-old grandson living back in Ohio, Michael Lukon said he relishes time spent at Watermarke's resort-style clubhouse pool.

  • Marge Lukon, a former antiques dealer, said she has found a way to decorate the contemporary space of their 1,309-square-foot Insignia floor plan.

"We wanted a lifestyle that would work for us both," Michael Lukon said. "I had to feel good about it. Marge had to feel even better. We saw Watermarke, and this floor plan, and felt right at home."

After having worked for General Motors for 30 years, the last 12 as a union representative, Michael Lukon says he appreciates not only the level of craftsmanship in the design of his condominium but also the dedication of the Meritage Homes' sales agents who assisted them in making their purchase.

"I can't tell you how quick they were to respond to any question or any concern," he said, pointing to the additional lighting that a construction supervisor installed above the covered back patio the day after a casual request.

"I never saw anything like it. I happened to mention it one time and the next day, the lights were there. I was quite impressed," Michael Lukon said.

The Lukons' Insignia floor plan features two master suites outfitted with a private master bath with Roman tub, dual-sink vanity and separate shower. Each suite includes a walk-in closet. A separate linen closet offers extra storage adjacent to the upstairs laundry with washer and dryer.

"We support our home buyers from the loan process, selection of their interiors, walk-through and beyond," sales agent Bridget Parker said. "We deliver a quality product with quality construction and we care."

Watermarke at Mountain's Edge is a gated collection of condominiums featuring four floor plans. The Citrine is a 1,085-square-foot design of two bedrooms, 21/2 baths, deck and two-car garage. The Insignia measures 1,309 square feet and includes two master suites, 21/2 baths and two-car garage. The Neiman and the Classique each offer three bedrooms and 21/2 baths, and measure 1,532 and 1,549 square feet, respectively.

The complex is anchored by a recreation center with pool, fitness facility, outdoor fireplace, lounge area and billiards room. The two- to three-bedroom residences include patio or deck and two-car direct access. Paverstone driveways, desert landscaping and traditional exteriors, some with stone facing, accent each elevation.

The condominiums are priced from the high $100,000s.

"We're running a great incentive on our standing inventory," Parker said. "Buyers coming in over the holidays can celebrate the New Year in their new home and spend nights at the clubhouse, lounging by the outdoor fireplace."

Model homes are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Monday when they open at 11 a.m.

To visit the Watermarke development, take Interstate 15 south toward Blue Diamond Road. Follow Blue Diamond to Durango Drive. Head south on Durango. The community is on the left.
