Summerlin open house attracts thousands

More than 3,000 prospective home buyers recently visited Summerlin during its America's Biggest Open House event March 15 and 16. The weekend event showcased more than 75 model homes in nearly 20 neighborhoods.

According to Nikkole Liesse, director of marketing for The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties Inc. and developer of Summerlin, America's Biggest Open House gave home buyers an opportunity to tour a wide variety of new model homes while they enjoyed a festive atmosphere.

  • "We continue to build on our success each time we host this event," Liesse said of the community-wide open house that generates considerable traffic to Summerlin's Web site and the community itself. "With strong qualified traffic, it was a great weekend for the 12 home builders who are currently developing homes in Summerlin. This is our third America's Biggest Open House and we've already got a fourth one planned for October 2008."

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties, Inc., Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. Located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with about 9,000 acres still remaining to accommodate growth within the master plan, including the addition of Summerlin Centre. The community is now home to more than 95,000 residents.

Summerlin's amenities include more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of a trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, medical and cultural facilities, business parks, 22 public and private schools and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.

Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the mid-$200,000s to more than $2 million.

Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $900s.
