The free weekend outdoor festival also features a full entertainment line-up, including food art demonstrations (pumpkin and ice carving) between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. by Chef Chanh Bhoupa of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas; roving entertainers from The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian, daily performances by "Stomp Out Loud" at 1 p.m.; and live music from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Ponder takes the stage on Saturday, while jazz musician, David Van Such headlines on Sunday. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

According to Celebration of the Arts founder, Tamara Badik, who organized the first Celebration of the Arts in Summerlin in 1993, the juried event has brought high quality art to the community for more than a decade. This year, Celebration of the Arts hosts an extensive collection of artwork, including paintings, glasswork, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, apparel, handmade soaps, and handcrafted dolls and woodcrafts.

Kathy Chetelat is one of the more than 120 artists who will showcase their works at the Summerlin Art Festival this year. She, along with her husband of more than 30 years, Rory, specializes in fused glass and metal sculptures, which they make in their home workshop in Las Vegas. The Chetelats exhibit and sell their creations at various art shows throughout California, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.

Chetelat claims the Summerlin Art Festival is her favorite show. "The beautiful park atmosphere, steady crowd and community demographics make the Summerlin Art Festival our most preferred and profitable show," she said. "We're thrilled to once again participate in this event."

La Strada dell'Arte, the second major element of the Summerlin Art Festival, features two local artists, Ricardo Gutierrez and Donovan Fitzgerald. Gutierrez, 19, has participated in La Strada dell'Arte for the past four years and is studying graphic design at College of Southern Nevada.

Fitzgerald, owner and artist of Fitzgerald Artworks, has participated in the event for two years and specializes in renaissance and Victorian styles.

Gutierrez and Fitzgerald will be joined by dozens of other artists. The Summerlin Art Fest is free to the public.
