A variety of family-friendly games and activities is planned for all ages at The Arbors Tennis & Play Park, including sack races, a water balloon toss, hula hoop and dance competitions, 9 to 11 a.m.

For the more advanced athlete, there is a 9-mile fun run coordinated by the Summerlin Striders, a Summerlin-based running club. The run begins at 6 a.m. at The Trails Park (1910 Spring Gate Lane) and travels south along the trail system on Town Center Drive to The Mesa Park (5401 Mesa Park Drive). The course starts near the northern border of Summerlin and travels toward the southern edge of development, showcasing the community's extensive 150-mile trail system that runs through all developed portions of the community from the north to the south as well as from the east to the west.

National Trails Day was originally established in 1993 and has grown to include about 3,000 trail-themed events across the country. The day was established to promote public awareness and appreciation for America's trails.
