Trump scales to the top, unveils TowersReal Estate Paparazzi

The charm of the East Coast meets the flash of the Las Vegas Strip when The Donald, aka, Donald J. Trump, scales to new heights at his Trump International Hotel & Towers Las Vegas topping off ceremony Friday at 10 a.m. In town for this media event, Trump will personally hoist a tree to the 65th-story roof of Tower I, which is slated to open early next year. Plans to build a twin tower, which also will house 1,282 units and boast a gold glass exterior, were announced earlier this month on NBC's "The Apprentice." It is slated to open in 2010.

Phil Ruffin, who sold the New Frontier for more than $1.2 billion to an Israeli-owned real estate investment group last week, remains an owner with Trump and Jack Wishna, a local deal maker, in the nongaming residential project, which is located on seven acres backside of the hotel-casino.

  • Trump has invited Gov. Jim Gibbons, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, casino magnate Steve Wynn, owner of Wynn Las Vegas, and other valley movers and shakers to the event.

"The Trump International Hotel and Tower is the most luxurious project ever built in Las Vegas and is consistently selected by buyers looking for the best in services and amenities. Buyers at Trump International include celebrities, athletes, heads of major companies, high-net worth professionals and investors. Many of these buyers have purchased in other Trump projects around the world and we are delighted that they have selected to purchase at this highly successful Trump project as well," Trump said in an e-mail for this article.

When this ripped-from-a-press-release quote was pointed out to Wishna he responded; "You know Donald only talks in advertorial speak. Everything he says promotes a project. That is why we love him and he is so successful."

Wishna personally has been presenting the Trump project to a host of celebrities, including Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Robert Goulet, Tony Orlando, Michael Flatley, Wayne Newton, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Madonna and Barbra Streisand. He said -- without revealing names -- many celebrities, movie producers, athletes and business leaders have purchased at Trump International Las Vegas.

More than 20 top football players boarded jets and flew into Las Vegas in April "to scoop up multiple luxury units in the new Trump Tower II. The players represent some of the greatest names and teams in the NFL that include the Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos and the New York Giants," Wishna said. "All action stopped at the Vegas project as these personalities toured the project, some wearing as many as two Super Bowl rings on their hands. These superstar athletes selected over 30 super-luxury condominiums in the new tower that they immediately purchased."

Each athlete chose a personal residence to use as a second home when visiting Las Vegas and additional units to rent. The units include a 550-square-foot studio for $770,000, a 1,000-square-foot one-bedroom for $1.4 million and a 1,800-square-foot, two-bedroom penthouse for $3.9 million Wishna said the football stars also are looking at a few penthouses in Tower I to have something to move into in 2008.
