Three generations choose KB

Krista Hindman, along with her mother and her 12-year-old son, are eagerly moving into a new house in KB Home's Liberty at Huntington neighborhood in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley.

"We gave away all our old furniture," Hindman said. "We're starting all new, down to the pots and pans."

  • Hindman and her mother, Kary Brown, purchased the Declaration floor plan together. They will share the home with Hindman's 12-year-old son, Robbie Hindman. The 1,298-square-foot home features three bedrooms, a loft and a bathroom upstairs along with a large family room, kitchen, nook and half bath downstairs.

Brown said the backyard will be the scene of lots of family activities.

"We plan to install a Jacuzzi, get a barbecue and a few chairs and create an outside room. It'll be nice to entertain out there," Brown said.

Backyard design is one of many projects on the family's to-do list. They are also hitting stores to buy furniture, stock the kitchen and purchase odds and ends.

"We love to shop and now we have something to shop for," said Brown, noting that power tools will be high on their list. Hindman and Brown plan to install custom window treatments, and Robbie wants to build a skateboard ramp in the garage.

"There's a sense of pride in homeownership," Hindman said.

Liberty at Huntington features eight two-story floor plans ranging from 1,267 to 1,608 square feet. The homes offer two to four bedrooms, 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 baths and one-car garages. Prices start in the low $200,000s.

To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, to Durango Drive and exit south. Turn right on Warm Springs Road, left on Fort Apache Road and right on Huntington Cove Parkway. The sales office is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except Monday when it opens at noon.

KB Home offers more than 25 communities throughout Southern Nevada. The KB Home Studio is a 22,000-square-foot design center located just off Interstate 15 at 7440 Dean Martin Drive, Suite 201, just south of Warm Springs Road.

The builder offers a free service known as the Home Finding Center, which provides prospective buyers with credit reports.

The Home Finding Center is located in the KB Home main office at 5655 Badura Ave., just southwest of Intertate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Decatur Boulevard.
