Nevada Energy Star Partners, a voluntary coalition of Southern Nevada home builders, developers, retailers, mortgage providers, energy consultants and local utilities promoting energy conservation, has about 40 partners, including Las Vegas-based StoryBook Homes.
Energy Star is an important feature in every StoryBook Homes community, according to Jeff Gifford, the company's vice president of operations.

All StoryBook Homes are built with radiant barrier, upgraded insulation, vinyl low-e windows, high-efficiency water heaters and R-6 insulated duct work, according to Gifford. The homes are inspected by a third party to ensure compliance with all Energy Star building standards, he said.

Energy Star-rated homes meet building guidelines for energy efficiency set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
