Aliante's free jazz concert in the park draws hundreds of spectators

A free jazz concert July 28 drew hundreds of music lovers to the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park in the Aliante master-planned community. Featured at the event was Mimi Fox, an award-winning artist who recently released her seventh album, a two-disc set titled, "Perpetually Hip."

A seasoned player, Fox has performed with fellow guitarists Charlie Byrd, Charlie Hunter, Stanley Jordan and Kenny Burrell, as well as with Grammy award winners saxophonists Branford Marsalis and David Sanchez and Manhattan Transfer's Janis Siegel, saxophonist Don Lanphere, Hammond B3 organ virtuosos Barbara Dennerlien and Dr. Lonnie Smith, and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington. She has shared the bill with a wide array of artists, including Abbey Lincoln, Diana Krall, Stevie Wonder and John Sebastian.
