Couple prefers new Turnberry home
Tools
Only a few months ago, a couple began their search for a new one-bedroom home by taking a tour of Turnberry Towers, an upscale condominium complex near the Las Vegas Strip.
The couple said they fell in love with Turnberry Towers, especially with its first-class amenities and reasonable homeowners' association dues, according to company officials.
Before leaving the property, they asked their Realtor if there were any short sales or foreclosures in the complex.
The Realtor found a one-bedroom foreclosure unit was listed on a Multiple Listing Service for a price that was slightly lower than the price of a new home. The couple wrote a contract for the unit, which was quickly accepted.
However, as the couple proceeded in their inspections of the foreclosed unit, it turned out that the floor sound proofing had not been installed. With the additional cost and hassle as well as the uncertainty of what else was improperly installed, the small price difference was no longer justified.
The couple withdrew their contract on the foreclosed unit. They are now looking to purchase a new home at Turnberry Towers, as they had originally planned.
According to company officials, this story is just one of many in which people who purchased homes through short-sales or foreclosures discovered that it wasn't the opportunity they thought.
A brand-new home, however, gives the buyer complete control in designing the home and lifestyle that they want to live. Buyers at Turnberry Towers have the choice of selecting their own flooring and customizing their wall paint colors. Every home comes with outstanding views, so homeowners can decide whether they prefer to look out on the scenic surrounding mountains or watch the bustling nightlife of the Las Vegas Strip.
Turnberry Towers offers customized flooring and paint selection, which is included in the price of the home.
Units range from $600,000s to $700,000s, and as low as $250,000s. These prices are 40 to 50 percent below what these homes cost two years ago.
