KB opens models in Mountain's Edge

KB Home is celebrating the opening of new model homes at its Talavera community in Mountain's Edge, a master-planned community in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley.
Tours of the models begin at 10 a.m. today and continues throughout the day. The event includes a catered lunch and giveaways until 7 p.m.
KB Home's Talavera features the builder's signature Built to Order, Energy Star and Energy Plus-certified new homes.
In addition, all homes will be "solar-ready." This means they can easily be retrofitted to include solar-power systems and/or solar-thermal water heating systems with minimal disruption to the completed home.
If the owners decide they would like to add either of these things to their new home after it is completed, KB Home will refer them to a licensed third-party provider.
Even without adding solar power, the homes available at Talavera are designed to help homeowners save money on monthly expenses by earning both the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star as well as NV Energy's Energy Plus certifications.
Features like programmable thermostats, radiant-barrier roof lining, low-e windows and efficient heating and cooling systems all help keep household utility bills low, according to company officials.
To better illustrate the advantages of such a home, KB Home now includes its Energy Performance Guide in all of its new homes. Similar to an miles per gallon sticker on automobiles, the EPG provides KB homebuyers with estimated monthly electric and gas costs for their new home, according to company officials.
Home shoppers have their choice of nine floor plans ranging from 1,373 to 2,568 square feet with as many as five bedrooms, three baths and two-car garages.
The one- and two-story homes are designed with great room living areas opening up to outdoor living areas with optional covered patios.
Flexible den or loft spaces can be used in a variety of ways or converted to an additional bedroom. Pricing starts in the $130,000s.
The Talavera sales center is located at 7079 Glencoe Harbor Ave. in Mountain's Edge. From the Las Vegas Beltway south, exit Buffalo Drive heading south. Continue about five miles and turn left on Cactus Road, right on Shades Park Street to the sales office on the right.
