Woodside Homes will open its new Villa Palermo neighborhood located in the upscale Lake Las Vegas community today. The single-family homes start in price in the low $200,000s.

Grand opening festivities will include the unveiling of a decorated model home 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Visitors also will get a chance to win an Apple iPad2.

Homebuyers who purchases a Villa Palermo home this weekend will receive two gifts valued as much as $5,000, including a choice of a professional landscaping package, designer window blinds, a washer/dryer/refrigerator package or extra closing costs, according to company officials.

The grand opening event will feature the builder's new homes as well as three new home designs, which showcase a trio of one- and two-story floor plans ranging from 1,779 to 2,361 square feet, including as many as three bedrooms and 2½ baths.

All three designs are highlighted by great rooms and gourmet island kitchens featuring granite countertops, beechwood cabinets, stainless steel sinks and GE gas ranges with sealed burners and self-cleaning oven.

The two-story plan takes on the added dimension of a secluded den and a versatile bonus room.

Added enhancements include ceramic tile flooring in the entry, kitchen, nook, baths and laundry room of each home. Master baths have walk-in closets, adult-height vanities and separate tub and shower.

Tuscan-inspired architecture gives every home a look of classic distinction, which is accented by embossed insulated steel roll-up doors enclosing two-car attached garages.

Desert living demands the latest advancements in energy efficiency, and Villa Palermo delivers that with the builder's Environments For Living program.

Woodside's construction surpasses Energy Star compliance, and every home comes with a three-year energy use guarantee, according to company officials.

Energy-saving features include R19-rated walls, R30-rated ceilings, balanced air flow, dual-glazed low-e vinyl windows, radiant-barrier roof sheathing, high-efficiency 40-gallon water heaters, water-saving plumbing fixtures, digital programmable thermostats, 13 SEER air-conditioning units and drought-tolerant, water-conscious landscaped front yards with irrigation and stub to rear yards for future expansion.

The upscale Lake Las Vegas community in Henderson is known for its pristine man-made lake and MonteLago Village, which features and dining, shopping, casino play and spas. The community also offers a Jack Nicklaus-designed championship golf course.

The latest attraction at Lake Las Vegas is Ravella, the new incarnation of the former Ritz-Carlton hotel. The hotel has its own gourmet restaurant, Firenze.

Everyone who tours the models at Villa Palermo will be eligible to enter the drawing for an Apple iPad2, which will be held July 1st at 4 p.m.
