Silverado grinds out winning run

Walk, stolen base, single, grounder edge Centennial




Pinch runner Nikki Johnson scored on Katie Devlin's infield grounder in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving Silverado's softball team a 4-3 home victory over Centennial on Friday.

After Mikayla Thielges led off with a walk for the Skyhawks, Johnson ran for her and stole second. She took third on a single by Sam Velasco.

  • Devlin went the distance for the win and also drove in two runs. Velasco had two hits.

    Centennial's Brandy Thaw had two doubles, and Katie Lee smacked a home run.

    Las Vegas 3, Coronado 2 -- At Las Vegas, Jennifer Gliddon's RBI double in the sixth inning lifted the Wildcats over the Cougars.

    Gliddon also got the victory, holding Coronado to six hits, and Tiffini Lucero was 2-for-3.

    Kelsi Fahr went 2-for-3 with a double to carry the Cougars.

    Durango 4, Green Valley 2 -- At Green Valley, Jaexie Balilea went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead the Trailblazers past the Gators.

    Kayla Anderson scored a run and had an RBI double to give Green Valley a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but Durango rallied with three runs in the sixth.

    Shadow Ridge 7, Valley 0 -- At Shadow Ridge, Mandy Harmon pitched a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts as the Mustangs blanked the Vikings.

    Jasmine Harris went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Rayna Bradshaw and Ashley Huddleston also tripled for Shadow Ridge.

    Del Sol 13, Chaparral 2 -- At Chaparral, Rhiannan Nye compiled three hits and two RBIs to help the Dragons knock off the Cowboys.

    Kayla Day, Heather Romero and Alyssa Deleon each added two hits for Del Sol, which scored 11 runs in the first inning.

    Clark 16, Tech 0 -- At Clark, Jordyn McDonald pitched a five-inning one-hitter, striking out 10, to help the Chargers cruise past the Roadrunners.

    McDonald also led Clark's offense, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

    Marissa Arroyo supplied two hits for the Chargers, who sealed the victory with nine runs in the fourth inning.

    Basic 12, Desert Pines 1 -- At Basic, Lacey Romo ripped a two-run home run and drove in four runs for the Wolves.

    Adrian Brown also had four RBIs for Basic.

    Megan Feher struck out 12 and allowed two hits in five innings to get the win.

    Spring Valley 6, Palo Verde 2 -- At Palo Verde, Lauren Maloney went 3-for-4 and scored twice to help the Grizzlies beat the Panthers.

    Katie Garcia went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Jasmine Wilson was 2-for-4 with a triple for Spring Valley, which was helped by six Palo Verde errors.

    Lauren Stover and Melissa McCormick each had two hits for the Panthers, and Amanda Montalto doubled.

    Liberty 9, Legacy 3 -- At Liberty, Breanna English allowed five hits and one earned run in a complete-game victory for the Patriots.

    Kristina Foti sparked the Liberty offense with a three-run double that broke the game open in the second inning.

    Arbor View 5, Bonanza 4 -- At Arbor View, Amanda Jones went 2-for-4 to help the Aggies edge the Bengals.

    Brooke Petersen tripled and scored to give Arbor View a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning, and a Bonanza rally in the seventh fell just short.

    Cheyenne 16, Canyon Springs 8 -- At Canyon Springs, Jasmine Sukuda went 5-for-5 with four RBIs as the Desert Shields beat the Pioneers.

    Erin Elder was 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Cheyenne, and Melanie Manley and Lexi Galindo each added two hits.

    Faith Lutheran 13, Calvary Chapel 0 -- At Faith Lutheran, Jessie Tracy, Kelsey Hoover and Michelle Beatty each went 3-for-4 to lead the Crusaders.

    Tracy had a double and a triple and Beatty added a triple.

    Faith Lutheran 2, Bishop Gorman 1 -- At Faith Lutheran, Angie Miller scored on a sacrifice fly by starting pitcher Jessie Tracy in the top of the eighth inning for the Crusaders.

    Tracy threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
