Tyreke Evans had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the East to a 107-102 victory over the West in the McDonald's All-American High School Basketball boys game Wednesday in Milwaukee.

Evans, one of two uncommitted players participating in the game featuring the top high school talent, took over late in the second half after the East had closed the West's lead to 82-80.

Evans, who is considering Memphis, Connecticut, Villanova and Texas, went 9-for-15 from the field.

Also: Brooklyn Pope scored 13 points, and future Rutgers teammate Nikki Speed added nine points, four assists and two steals as the West beat the East 80-64 in the McDonald's All-American girls game in Milwaukee.

A judge in Bradenton, Fla., dismissed a request for a restraining order filed by former NBA referee Tim Donaghy's estranged wife because she did not attend a scheduled court hearing.

Records show Kimberly Donaghy did not appear at a hearing Tuesday after requesting protection against her husband last week.

Wranglers set ECHL record with OT victory

Peter Ferraro scored at 2:03 of overtime to give the Wranglers a 3-2 victory over the Utah Grizzlies in West Valley, Utah, and the ECHL National Conference title.

The win made Las Vegas (44-12-12) the first team in league history to record three straight 100-point seasons.

Ferraro scored two goals to set the Wranglers' single-season record with 35 and also had an assist. Marco Peluso added a goal and an assist, and goalie Kevin Lalande (16-5-4) stopped 27 of 29 shots.

Also: Sidney Crosby, sidelined for 28 of the Pittsburgh Penguins' past 31 games with a sprained right ankle, went through an optional practice without problems and plans to play tonight against the New York Islanders.

Colt Big Brown favored to win Florida Derby

Unbeaten colt Big Brown was made the 3-1 favorite for the 1 1/8-mile Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park, but drew an unfavorable outside post position -- No. 12.

Since the track was rebuilt four years ago, horses leaving from the No. 12 post in 1 1/8-mile races are 0-for-11.

The Florida Derby, a key prep for the Kentucky Derby on May 3, drew a field of 12.

Elysium Fields is the second choice at 4-1 and will leave from the No. 8 post.

Also: Carlos Bocanegra and Oguchi Onyewu headed in first-half goals, and substitute Eddie Lewis scored in the second half as the U.S. men's soccer team beat Poland 3-0 in an exhibition game in Krakow, Poland.

The three-goal margin of victory was the largest for the Americans in Europe since a 3-0 victory over Austria in 1998.

Bill Toomey, the 1968 Olympic decathlon champion, pleaded no contest in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs after crashing his Mercedes-Benz into two parked cars.

Toomey, 69, was arrested May 24 after his car hit two parked vehicles. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 22.

Art Aragon, boxing's original "Golden Boy," who never won a world title but whose brashness, good looks and celebrity lifestyle made him one of the sport's biggest drawing cards of the 1940s and 1950s, has died at age 80.

Aragon, who suffered a stroke March 15, died Tuesday at Northridge (Calif.) Hospital Medical Center after being removed from life support, said his son, Brad.

Aragon had a 90-20-6 record, with 61 wins by knockout.
