Montalto, McCormick lead Panthers to 1-0 win

Palo Verde nudges Cimarron on single in bottom of seventh




Amanda Montalto hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Palo Verde a 1-0 win over visiting Cimarron-Memorial on Tuesday.

Missy McCormick walked to start the inning. Alisha Perry reached on an infield hit, and Montalto singled to center to end the game.

  • McCormick pitched the distance for the Panthers, allowing four hits and striking out eight. Cimarron's Carrie Sheehan threw a three-hitter and had two hits.

    Centennial 6, Cheyenne 5 -- At Centennial, Katie Lee's pinch-hit double with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning brought in Alyssa Rampa with the winning run.

    Rampa finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs, who led 5-0 entering the sixth inning. Lindsey Galindo was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Cheyenne.

    Foothill 4, Green Valley 3 -- At Green Valley, winning pitcher Shelbie Medrano had all three of Foothill's hits and drove in two runs as the Falcons held off the Gators.

    Coronado 10, Liberty 7 -- At Liberty, Sarah Detwiler was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs to lead the Cougars.

    Allie Amato went 2-for-4 with a home run for Coronado. Carson Cooper was 3-for-4 with a double for Liberty.

    Silverado 14, Basic 6 -- At Silverado, Mikayla Thielges and Taylor Vega each hit a home run in the Skyhawks' win over the Wolves.

    Stephanie Cinkovich was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run and an RBI for the Wolves.

    Shadow Ridge 10, Legacy 0 -- At Shadow Ridge, Mandy Harmon threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Mustangs beat the Longhorns in five innings.

    Rayna Bradshaw was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge. Harmon, Ashley Eldridge, Jackie Pugliese and Jasmine Harris each went 2-for-3 for the Mustangs.

    Arbor View 16, Mojave 3 -- At Mojave, Kayla Griffith went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs as the Aggies downed the Rattlers.

    Erika Galvez was 3-for-4 with five RBIs for the Aggies, and Savannah Webster was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

    Faith Lutheran 9-5, Pahrump Valley 0-12 -- At Faith Lutheran, the 3A Southern League's top teams split a doubleheader.

    Jessie Tracy threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the Crusaders in the first game. Angie Miller was 3-for-4 with a double and a run to lead the offense.

    In the second game, Christine Gamble was 2-for-4 with a home run to power the Trojans. Faith Lutheran's Michele Beatty was 4-for-4.

    Both teams are 7-1 in the 3A Southern League.

    Boulder City 5-5, Moapa Valley 4-0 -- At Boulder City, Dylan Scott tossed a two-hit shutout in the second game as the Eagles swept Moapa Valley.

    Ariel O'Neil drew a walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in the winning run in the first game.
