Legacy answers Spartans' rally for baseball win

Travis Davison singled home Richie Esquivel with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Legacy's baseball team an 11-10 win over visiting Cimarron-Memorial on Wednesday.

Cimarron scored three times in the top of the seventh to take a 10-6 lead.

  • Legacy had three consecutive triples in the inning -- a two-run triple by Joey Lauria and RBI triples by Zach Monticelli and Esquivel -- to set up Davison's game winner.

    Lauria was 4-for-4, and Andres Ortiz had two hits, including a double to lead off the seventh, for Legacy.

    Nate Hale had three hits and Kaz Smith a home run and a double for the Spartans.

    Palo Verde 11, Shadow Ridge 10 -- At Shadow Ridge, Brandon Renteria went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the Panthers.

    Shadow Ridge scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Alex Bonczyk drove in three runs for Palo Verde. Dustin Hobbs had a home run for Shadow Ridge.

    Arbor View 12, Cheyenne 2 -- At Arbor View, David McClure went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, four runs and an RBI to lead the Aggies.

    Brooks Robinson was 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs for Arbor View.

    Derek Fuss allowed one earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts to get the win.

    Centennial 21, Mojave 0 -- At Mojave, five Bulldogs pitchers combined on a two-hitter. Anthony Consiglio homered for Centennial.

    Coronado 10, Tech 0 -- At Coronado, Dane Cooper went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Cougars.

    Justin Souza-Grenier also doubled, drove in two and scored twice. Steven Pollex went the distance for the Cougars, allowing four hits and striking out four.

    Green Valley 12, Del Sol 0 -- At Del Sol, Joe Robinson hit a grand slam for the Gators.

    Jordan Van Hoosier also homered for Green Valley in support of pitcher Nick Libonati, who gave up four hits in five innings.

    Silverado 10, Liberty 4 -- At Silverado, Stefan Norman went 3-for-4 with two homers and six RBIs for the Skyhawks.

    Bonanza 4, Las Vegas 2 -- At Bonanza, Chasen Shreve scattered eight hits and struck out seven as the Bengals ended the Wildcats' 19-game winning streak.

    Nick Bryant was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Phillip Navarro was 2-for-2 with two runs for Bonanza.

    Basic 13, Foothill 3 -- At Basic, John Anderson had two home runs, a double and four RBIs to lead the Wolves.

    Marcus Romero added a homer and a double for Basic.

    SOFTBALL

    Basic 1, Foothill 0 -- At Basic, Megan Feher threw a five-hitter and struck out 10 to beat the Falcons.

    Adrian Brown singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth and scored on Cortney Breeden's double.

    Arbor View 10, Cheyenne 6 -- At Arbor View, Savanah Webster and Melissa Bohne each had three hits and an RBI to lead the Aggies.

    Cimarron-Memorial 12, Legacy 9 -- At Legacy, Carrie Sheehan went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Chelsea Williams had a double and three RBIs for the Spartans.

    Jessie Wilhelm was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and five RBIs for Legacy.

    Centennial 14, Mojave 1 -- At Mojave, Jenna Van Eykeren was 2-for-3 with a double for the Bulldogs.

    Lindsay Konopelko threw a two-hitter, striking out seven, to get the five-inning win.

    Melissa Schueler hit a home run in the first for Mojave.

    Shadow Ridge 11, Palo Verde 5 -- At Shadow Ridge, Jasmine Harris had three of the Mustangs' 13 hits.

    Green Valley 11, Del Sol 0 -- At Del Sol, Razia Ali threw a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to lead the Gators.

    Ali Bodnar was 4-for-4 with a triple and Lace Jordan and Alicia Firelein each went 3-for-4 for Green Valley. Firelein hit a home run.

    Silverado 5, Liberty 2 -- At Silverado, Emily Galante was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer for the Skyhawks.

    Taylor Lampela drove in the go-ahead run with an infield single in the sixth.

    Coronado 16, Tech 1 -- At Coronado, Sarah Detwiller was 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs to lead the Cougars.
