Gliddon struck out 120 in 104 2/3 innings. She also hit .367.

Silverado catcher Mikayla Thielges, who hit .535 with four home runs, was named the region's Most Valuable Player.

Joining Gliddon and Thielges on the All-Sunrise team were Rancho's Jesslyn Bley, Katelyn Bley and Amerissa Villamar, Green Valley's Alicia Firelein and Annamarie Smith, Foothill's Shelbie Medrano, Liberty's Breanna English and Coronado's Bianca Query.

Foothill coach Tom Mayes, who led the Falcons to a state tournament appearance, was named the Region's Coach of the Year.

The Sunset Region coaches didn't pick an all-region team but did select all-division teams.

Clark pitcher Jordyn McDonald was named the Southwest Division's Most Valuable Pitcher. McDonald posted a 9-2 record with 136 strikeouts in 81 innings in league play. She posted a 0.26 ERA in league games.

Sierra Vista's Desiree Laswell was named the Southwest Most Valuable Player. She was 9-2 as a pitcher and hit .395. Clark's Andrea Leavitt and Sierra Vista's Jerome Streets were named co-Coaches of the Year.

In the Northwest Division, Shadow Ridge took two of the top three individual honors, with Rayna Bradshaw gaining league Most Valuable Player honors and Mandy Harmon sharing Most Valuable Pitcher honors with Centennial's Lauren Lynds.

Bradshaw batted .569 with three homers in the regular season and combined with Harmon to lead the Mustangs to the state tournament. Harmon went 19-1 with a 0.59 ERA in the regular season. She struck out 161. Lynds went 14-2 with a 1.18 ERA and 116 strikeouts.

Cheyenne's Teri Hernandez was named the league's Coach of the Year.

• SWIMMING AWARDS -- Palo Verde swimmer Cody Miller, who led the Panthers to the boys state title, was named the Sunset Region Boys Swimmer of the Year by the Southern Nevada Swim and Dive Coaches Association.

Miller won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke at state and swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Sierra Vista's Helen Yee, who won the 50 and 100 freestyles at state, was the Sunset Girls Swimmer of the Year. Palo Verde's Brent Gonzalez (girls) and Mojave's Dave Perkins (boys) were named Sunset Coaches of the Year.

In the Sunrise Region, Silverado's Addie Oswald, who won the 200 and 500 freestyles at state, was the Girls Swimmer of the Year. Martin Vanis, the state champ in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, was the Boys Swimmer of the Year.

Boulder City's Sara Carroll (girls) and Liberty's Collin Sully (boys) were named Coaches of the Year.

• GOLF AWARDS -- Bishop Gorman's Kevin Collignon, who placed second at the Class 4A state boys golf tournament, was named the Sunset Region's Player of the Year by coaches. Las Vegas High's Ray Gillip, third at state, was the Sunrise Region Player of the Year.

Gillip and Collignon were joined by Coronado's Kevin Stratton and Tad Darland, Palo Verde's Chris Viravongsa and Centennial's Zach Chyz on the All-Las Vegas Team.

• NATIONAL TEAM TRIALS -- Bishop Gorman girls basketball standout Ashley Gayle has been selected to participate in trials for the USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team from June 9 to 12 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The 6-foot-4-inch Gayle was the Review-Journal's Class 4A Player of the Year this past season and has signed with Texas. She was one of 35 individuals chosen to compete for 12 roster spots.

Also picked to try out for the team was Monique Oliver, who starred at Cheyenne for two years before transferring to Long Beach (Calif.) Poly.
