Props another option

Wagers add wrinkle to prime-time games

For some bettors, the final score of the New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles game today might be insignificant compared to Brandon Jacobs' line in the box score.

The Giants running back is the subject of a proposition wager at the Las Vegas Hilton. Jacobs' total for rushing yards is set at 721/2.

  • Hilton sports book director Jay Kornegay is known for posting hundreds of Super Bowl props. But he also posts 10 props on each of the Sunday night and Monday night NFL games, even if not as many bettors notice.

"The Sunday and Monday night props don't get a lot of attention," he said. "During the regular season, most people are just concentrating on the game itself. Nothing compares to Super Bowl props."

Most weeks, the Monday night game draws more prop action.

"The Sunday night game is a time when everyone is recuperating from a big day of football," Kornegay said. "There's more attention to the props on Monday. But, obviously, the matchup has a lot to do with that, as well."

The Monday matchup for Week 10 -- San Francisco at Arizona -- is a potential snoozer. Tonight's game between the Giants and Eagles is far more intriguing.

As for Jacobs, the Hilton set his rushing total below his season average. Jacobs has 680 yards rushing in eight games for an average of 85 yards per game.

Jacobs has topped 721/2 yards in four of eight games, and he has three 100-yard games. Philadelphia ranks eighth in the league in rushing defense, allowing 89 yards per game.

Other props offered by the Hilton for the games tonight and Monday:

    • Total passing yards for the Giants' Eli Manning: 2181/2.

    • What will Manning throw first? Touchdown is minus-160; interception is plus-140.

    • Total completions by the Eagles' Donovan McNabb: 211/2.

    • Total rushing and receiving yards for the Eagles' Brian Westbrook: 1051/2.

    • Total points for the Eagles: 221/2.

    • Total rushing yards for the 49ers' Frank Gore: 721/2.

    • Total passing yards for the Cardinals' Kurt Warner: 2591/2.

    • Will Warner throw an interception? Yes is minus-150; No is plus-130.
