FISHING REPORT

• LAKE MEAD -- Passing weather fronts are keeping anglers on their toes. Some are catching striped bass with top-water lures and others by jigging with cut bait. Striper boils have been seen in the Vegas Bay and Overton arms. Anglers also report fair action for catfish and small stripers.

• LAKE MOHAVE -- Shore and boat anglers are finding fair to good fishing out of Cottonwood Cove. Boaters have been reeling in stringers of stripers weighing from 2 to 6 pounds, most with cut anchovies trolled in 20 to 40 feet of water between mile markers 23 and 38. Still-fishing is producing mostly catfish, some as large as 5 pounds. Shore anglers are finding success for catfish in the coves north and south of the marina. The whisker fish are taking cut and prepared baits.

    • • URBAN PONDS -- The final catfish plant of the year will take place today. If the weather trend holds, trout stocking activities should begin the last week of October or the first week of November. The key is water temperature.

    • KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted about 10,000 rainbow trout in Haymeadow reservoir the last week of September. Those that aren't caught before the water ices up will plump up through the winter months and provide good fishing next spring. Bass fishing has slowed, but trout fishing should be good through the fall months.

    • EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Passing weather fronts are providing anglers with challenges, though fishing remains good. Bait selection includes PowerBait, worms, flies and lures.

    • ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Anglers are finding fair bass fishing, though it slows as daytime temperatures drop. Rainbow trout are taking PowerBait, worms, flies and lures.
