As far as his lawyer is concerned, Tre'Von Willis will play basketball for UNLV this year, despite allegations he choked his girlfriend.
Willis was arraigned Tuesday in Henderson Justice Court on a felony domestic battery-strangulation charge stemming from his June 29 arrest. A preliminary hearing has been set for Nov. 22.
The 22-year-old was not present in court Tuesday and remains free on bail of almost $19,000. Skye Sanders, 28, told police Willis attacked her at her Henderson apartment. Willis told police he and Sanders had a verbal argument, not a physical altercation.
Willis' lawyer, Steve Wolfson, said he wants everyone to "be patient and wait for all of the facts." "I'm confident when all the facts come out, Tre'Von Willis will play basketball this year and lead his team in scoring again," he said.
Wolfson added that he has been in contact with UNLV officials who said he is "on track to play this season."
The 6-foot-4-inch Willis was the Rebels' top scorer as a junior guard last season.
Willis pleaded not guilty in Henderson Municipal Court to a separate charge of misdemeanor coercion. His lawyer submitted his plea by fax Monday. The judge set a Sept. 22 trial date in the misdemeanor case.

MORONS!!!!!!
His family only needed to come up with $1,900 bail; i.e., 10% of the total bail amount.
Further, have none of you heard of pro bono work, or public defenders? You don't have to work for the public defenders office to get a public defender. With the high volume of cases that the publiuc defender's office receives they outsource a lot of it to private attotneys.
Also, if you think this is celebrity justice, you need help. No charges would have been filed, especially felony charges. Also, this thing would have been disposed of already if this was celebrity justice.
Finally, I feel sorry for those devoid of intellect who think UNLV is paying for this. If there is one team under 24/7 NCAA scrutiny it is UNLV. I can guarantee you that no one at UNLV is paying bail or for Willis' attorney. I fell sorry for you and your lack of intellect and ability to think logically.
May God have mercy on your souls.
Two names for Willis to think about; Chris Henry & Steve McNair, ok, you get the picture Tre'Von?
Take it easy, people. He pleaded not guilty and there hasn't even been a preliminary hearing to determine if there's enough evidence to go forward to trial. In the meantime, he posted bail and he's free to return to his life. And his life is being a student-athlete. Good for him. Can't wait to watch him play at the Mack.
Much too easy for women to file domestic abuse charges...whenever they are upset, or anything wrong in the relationship, they go after their mate and always win with these claims and protective orders...a joke that is clogging the Family Court system...
Las Vegas should start its own pro basketball league using the Rebels, and let UNLV get back to academics.
UNLV is cutting both programs and staff, but there is always money for the bail and legal representation for athletes? Hmmm....
Here comes another case of "celebrity justice." Perhaps the NCAA needs to look at Krugers program as to how a college kid can pay this kind of bail and for a high priced legal eagle like Wolfson. The last I knew a full athletic scholarship was for tuition, books, room and board and can offer nothing not offered or available to all students, and does not include bail money and high priced lawyers. I wonder if Wolfson would be willing to represent all the other students with legal problems. Keep an eye on this case and also Wolfson; I understand he will be running to replace Oscar.
Well it sounds to me like this guy is headed for some major problems... he will have to be very careful in the future even if he gets away with this one because of who he is he will always have a bullseye on him from this and if he does it again he will be complained about on lasvegascomplaints and so he should.
Maybe in a week or so we'll see another hot tub picture? Seems to be plenty of money to go around.
How does a poor college student afford such an(overly) influential attorney?
