Parents Breijhandrai Coleman, left, and L.C. Scurry II welcome a daughter Jan. 1 at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, 6900 N. Durango Drive. Envy Essence-Faye Scurry weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce at birth and was born on New Year's Day, 14 seconds after midnight. The family was presented with a gift basket filled with baby supplies, a spa package and a free photo session with Bella Baby Photography for having the first newborn of the year at the hospital.

NEW FACILITY TO BE PART OF SENIOR COMMUNITIES
Construction has begun on the 75 one- and two-bedroom independent senior units of Decatur Pines 2 Senior Apartments, 6741 N. Decatur Blvd.
Decatur Pines 2 is slated join the existing Decatur Pines and Silver Sky at Deer Springs. All three communities are designed to serve the needs of low-income senior citizens in Southern Nevada.
The general contractor for the project will be HAND Construction Company Inc., an affiliate of Nevada Housing and Neighborhood Development Inc. The construction is projected to be completed in October 2012.
The nonprofit Nevada H.A.N.D. is to develop the project, which completes the third and final phase of the Deer Springs Campus.
In March 2011, Nevada H.A.N.D. was awarded $1.5 million in HOME federal funds from the city of Las Vegas and $600,000 in HOME funds from Clark County. The project is also being funded by a low-income housing tax credit program partnership with the National Equity Fund.

WEDDING BUSINESS OFFERS FREE NUPTIALS
Local wedding business Scenic Las Vegas Weddings is to offer free weddings to up to 25 couples Feb. 14 at its outdoor gazebo, 7575 Norman Rockwell Lane, Suite 7-150, in the Village of Centennial Springs.
Owners Trey and Melissa Tomsik said offering free weddings and photography on Valentine's Day is their way to give back.
Interested couples are to register at sceniclasvegasweddings.com for a 30-minute time slot.
A valid Nevada marriage license at the Clark County Marriage Bureau must be presented to the wedding officiant at the time of nuptials. Each couple is to have the choice of a civil or religious ceremony and 15 professional photos on DVD. A witness will be provided if needed.

RAPTORS star in springs preserve show
Raptor experts and educators David Kanellis and Alyssa Collins plan to present "Wings Over the Springs" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through March at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd.
The show is free for members or with paid admission into the preserve, and patrons get live interaction with nonnative hawk eagles, falcons, owls and other species in the free-flight presentation.
The couple co-founded Airborne Raptors Unlimited, a Centennial Hills-based organization dedicated to raptor awareness and education.
